ClubWPT Gold is making changes to maintain compliance with California law, which was recently changed, so we can continue serving our California players.
Starting on January 1, 2026, in addition to Hand Analysis and our other training features, we’re introducing California Game Days, which will allow you to test the skills developed using our platform. When you’re playing from California, you can win Chips that will be redeemable in our ring games and tournaments for up to a maximum of nine calendar days per month.
Chips won outside of the nine-day window are still credited to your account, but they will not be as redeemable.
During the California Game Days, which will occur nine days each month, you can play the Chips you have accumulated during prior practice and California Game Day play.
Our Hand Analysis tool and all of our other training features will remain the same and be available 24/7, which you can use to further develop your skills as often as you want each day.
These changes take effect on January 1, 2026, and apply only to players physically located in California when playing on ClubWPT Gold.
Which ClubWPT Gold features will be available outside of California Game Days?
California players can still play to learn, and train 24/7. The only change is the opportunity to test your skills by playing for Chips that are redeemable, which will now be available only during California Game Days.
Keep in mind, you can still play Chips won outside of the California Game Days window, which are not redeemable, during future California Game Days on which your winnings are redeemable.
What days are California Game Days?
For players physically located in California, California Game Days apply to the first nine calendar days you play at least one hand in ring games and/or tournaments at ClubWPT Gold.
For example, if you play at least one hand on January 4, January 9, and January 15, and these are the first three days of the month you use the site for game play, that counts as three California Game Days.
If I don’t participate in California Game Days up to the maximum of nine days in a particular month, will my unused days roll over so I can participate in more than nine days of California Game Days the next month?
No. Unused California Game Days don’t roll over into the next month.
Can I still play and win Chips outside of California Game Days?
Yes! California ClubWPT Gold players can still win Chips outside of California Game Days, but the Chips won on these days will not be redeemable Chips (but can be played during future California Game Days, on which winnings will be redeemable).
How can I redeem Chips won outside of California Game Days?
Chips won outside of California Game Days are not redeemable, but can be played during future California Game Days.
For example:
Let’s say you win 1,000 Chips on your 10th calendar day playing at ClubWPT Gold in a given month. Those Chips will be credited to your account, but are unredeemable.
The following month begins, and you play in a ring game or tournament with your accumulated Chips.
Any Chips you win during California Game Days will be redeemable.
If you play fewer than nine days from California in a month, your ClubWPT Gold play, training and development experience remains unchanged!
When will these changes to ClubWPT Gold take effect?
For all California players, these changes go into effect on January 1, 2026.
Can I redeem the Chips I have already won prior to January 1, 2026?
Yes! Any Chips you’ve won before January 1 are eligible for redemption as per usual.
Why is ClubWPT Gold making these changes?
As you may be aware, California recently passed AB 831, a new law prohibiting certain online sweepstakes platforms. The new law goes into effect on January 1, 2026.
ClubWPT Gold is a poker education and training platform committed to operating in compliance with the laws of every jurisdiction in which it is available.
ClubWPT Gold is further enhancing the platform's training and education features while still allowing players to test their skills developed on the platform by playing in games for Chips that are redeemable in a manner that is intended to comply with California law. These enhancements will continue to provide a best-in-class poker training experience using an updated platform that reflects our intent to operate in a lawful manner.
We’re committed to remaining and operating in California in a lawful manner, and we look forward to continuing to provide a world-class poker training platform for our players when they play from California.
